I Didn't Mean It (Poem)

I Didn't Mean It (Poem)
I didn’t mean to yell at you
And slam the car door
Without saying goodbye

As I heard your wheels screech away
I could feel your tears
Dripping on my shirt

I’m sorry.

~MBK

I write a lot of poems when I need to get things out of my mind.  It seems like when I write about something that is bothering me, it is gone forever once I put it down into words for other people to see.  This is just one of the poems I have written in the past two months.

That's a powerful poem. Short. Succinct. Tragic. I especially felt heart-wrenched with "I could feel your tears dripping on my shirt" abruptly followed by "I'm sorry." It's that feeling of isolation and an unspoken tragedy. I didn't like the image of "wheels screech away". I thought it distracted me from the haunting angst. I also thought a title like "I Didn't Mean To" better captured the feelings of regret and the deliberate vagueness of not mentioning what was yelled and who was "you". Do share more of your work. I thought you wrote this beautifully.
