Had to do it.

Had to do it.
So, I own a music school and we have ensembles and some of them are rock bands. I have warned this 14 year old repeatedly watch his mouth and not say any of the bigot type of stuff that he hears. He is disruptive but I have taught him for years and he usually manages to not go to far. Well last night he kept being very disruptive and made a dirty joke so filthy that a 14 and a 15 year old both yelled at him. Then when I was working with one of the other guitarists who happens to be bi and very out about it this kid sat there and popped off with a gay joke. The bi kid and I were stunned and then the other boys had to be stopped from going after this kid because he said something so offensive in general but to them he had just seriously insulted and offended their teacher and one of their friends. It was nice to have the straight kids defend us and I had to help the out kid deal with what had just happened.  So today I talked to both of his parents and they know that he will be getting told that he can no longer play in any ensemble or work with the other kids in any capacity. It is frustrating because i have worked with this kid for so long and he basically completely screwed up.
The out bi kid is fine though he was upset, he was more shocked at first which is good since he didn't physically go after the other boy.
I'm just so angry, my school is know as a safe place for LGBT kids to study. I guess that this proves that it will not be tollerated but It still bothers me.

*wants to go to this school*
On the upside, at least the out bi kid wasn't violent about anything. :/
So, what happens to the bothersome kid, other than what you already said? :P

He will still be allowed to take private lessons but he will not be allowed to work in group setting with the other kids. If he crosses the line again he will be expelled from the school altogether.
Whoa. Like I said before.... I want to go to this school. o.o

good job rob, kids need to learn that it's not alright in any way to make those kinds of comments/jokes. they're not funny and don't promote a relaxed cohesive environment. the gay jokes and comments i hear all the time in my class annoy the shit out of me but i can't say anything about it because of the whole military thing, i really can not wait until they get DADT taken away, because ppl will finally have to worry about getting an EO complaint for that type of thing.

this is just a ficade

The kid who was thrown out of th group is demoralized but he understands why and that it was his own fault. His mother told me that if he had known that there was a gay or bi kid in the room he wouldn't have said it. I told her that first it does not matter if he knows that there is a gay or bi kid in the room and secondly he was told that if he made those kids of jokes in this working group he would offend at least one of the other kids personally. He had asked which other boy wasn't straight and had been told not to worry about it but that he had then guessed and was told not to worry about who. BTW his guess had been correct but at the time the boy in question had not come out though he is in the coming out process right now.
