Bisexual organizing and activism.
So BinNet is an old bisexual activist organization and the leadership is moving toward middle age and we have been discussing the issues if if we have met the goals, if the organization serves the bi community and LGBT community in any realistin way. We are also talking about the idea of attrackting youth to the organization and basically turning it ove to twenty somethings and teen to run. But we need to revamp it in some realistic ways. And we have some questions for people who are now twenty somthing and teens to see what you guys would like the organization to be for your generation. Anyone have any ideas? Anyone interested in taking a leadership role and joining the board of a non-profit LGBT activist organization?
Feedback would be great from you guys.

Do you mean BiNet at-large is looking to turnover leadership to a younger generation? Or is it a local branch of BiNet in your area?

Let me get some questions drawn up and then I'll post them.
1) BiNet to provide inexpensive bi-pride items to youth organizations such as diversity clubs and GSAs for free (something that I already do but will start doing for BiNet) these can also go to bi groups for pride events. They can distribute the items for free or use them for local fund raising.
2) Continue to provide a legal umbrella corporation for local bi groups. But also start aiming at developing materials and packages to help build those local groups. This will allow small groups to do legal fund raising etc without having to incorporate themselves which can be expensive and difficult to managae especially if we are talking about teens. Here is the question, should those be specifically bi groups or should BiNet provide this type of umbrella coverage for any LGBT group that is bi-inclusive?
3) Develop a set of communication workshops geared to LGBT people, especially youth. These workshops can be provided free to youth organizations and inserted into their regular meetings or into events. These workshops are designed to give these youth heightened interpersonal communication skills to allow them to better navigate social situations etc.
4) Provide discussion group facilitator training and certification by training a set of BiNet certified Facilitation teachers. Make that training available to any organization that is bi-inclusive. Offer to assist other LGBT organizations and non-profits in developing their own training programs.
5) Increase bi-visibility through general outreach to the LGBT community but shift the focus from just activist type of outreach to supportive outreach through programs designed to assist and educate. Simple steps such as appoint BiNet members who are also active with other groups as BiNet liaisons to increase our visibility and to help increase credibility for Binet and for smaller local and newly formed LGBT groups and organizations.
6) Prepare materials to teach activism on the local level for LGBT groups.
7) What are some other things that you think and already established non-profit corporation could do to support the community and reach out to youth?
8) What type of image should Binet project for the future and how should that image be projected?
