I can help you out!  Twilight is a series of books (3 currently, the 4th one comes out this weekend) about a high school vampire romance.  Basically, it's told from the point of view of Bella, who moves to a tiny town called Forks where everyone knows eachother except for this one family- the Cullens, who are vampires (vegetarian, as they put it, they don't drink human blood!).  Twilight is all about uncovering the mystery and how Bella falls in love with Edward, one of the Cullens.

And just a note- the vampires in Twilight sparkle.

It's a young adult series-- the writing isn't great but the story telling is surprisingly good.  I'm interested to see how the movie turns out!

They sparkle? Like glitter? Well this isn't what I thought it would be, I was expecting something like Anne Rice...I'll have to bunker down at B&N next time I have off from work to get into one of the  Twilight books. I enjoy vampire novels.

Like glitter, yes.  It was the one thing I knew aside from the fact that "OMG EDWARD'S SO HOT!!" when I started reading. XD  They're not a bad read, really, despite being...not terribly good writing!

I am not entirely sure if I would read the books.  When it comes to books and movies, I am lazy.  I find watching the movie much quicker, haha.  Though, I like the idea of the glittering.  Did not know that.  When I read the info on IMDB that was not mentioned.  *goes back to IMDB to read more*

It's hard for me to get myself to read books on a regular basis, but when I get sucked into one (which usually happens even with not-so-good books) I'm totally addicted.. XD
 

I found out the sparkling thing because of fandom secrets--- like post secrets but about books, movies, tv shows, etc.  People bash on Twilight all the time there.  Like, at least once a day!  I still managed to enjoy it, though.

the books really are not that bad. i mean, they're teen books, so theyre pretty simply written, but they are entertaining and the plot is pretty original

well, the books are basic teenage drama crap, but they are brilliantly written, so I've forgiven that, and the author has really captured emotion perfectly, in the sense, that when the protagonist is annoyed with another character, you're annoyed with that character.  Overall the movie doesn't really excite me because of the general content....and um original is overreaching it a bit, the story is just a modulation on the basic stories of the last century, a creative and modernized modulation, but it doesn't really change the fact that it's been done before.
