Brand New

Brand New
Well hello everyone!

As a brief introduction:

I'm brand new to the site. I'm 17 effeminate and gay. I love music and play Violin, Viola, Cello, Piano, Guitar, Dums, and I Sing. I produce electronica music mainly from my computer and I'm hoping to release a CD sometime! I'm shy, but very friendly once you get to know me, and I'm excited to be part of this site!

As a comment:

I just wanted to say I really appreciate a site like this being up. It's nice to see communities supporting LGBTQs up and about and this site seems to have a very friendly environment =]

Cheers <3

Heya Alex!

I was all stoked reading your profile.. XD Music and computers!

My music background is more classical, and I'm very much a performer. Composing baffles me... It must be pretty exciting to be releasing a CD soon! I like your profile picture.. it looks very cool. Did you compose the picture too?

Music, chemistry, and computers are pretty different topics.. hehe. I'm a computer engineering student, and computers has become an obsession on all levels..

Anywho.. welcome, welcome! ^_^

Well, I did physics and English, those are very different subjects. So there's nothing wrong with that. =P Oh, and welcome to the site! You'll have to share your music when you're done. Hrm *runs off for now*

To the.Watcher:

You like classical eh? What instrument(s)? I love to play classical on the Violin. My favorite composer is Bach. I adore his works and think they're amazing and a great link to experiencing the time that he lived.

Composing feels to me just like telling a story, but having the instruments tell it rather than your voice. A bit of an eccentric view, yes, but its the only way I feel I can put it. I get excited when I make a synthesized instrument that acts in such an organic manner that works for me.

Performing is very fun as well. Do you do it like as a side job?

I wish I composed the picture! Tee hee! That's a good idea though: making a picture with my violin in it. That could be a fun event.

Might I ask what your display picture is? I've never seen that insignia before.

The three topics are very different, but I feel that if I go into music production, I can get the best of music and computers rolled into one.

To the.alphy:

Physics and English for what reason? Like are you pursuing a career that will utilize them both, or is there no specific reason for taking those subjects?

And if my music comes out well, I'll be sure to share it! Tee hee!

Thank you both for your hospitality as well!

Cheers <3

Well, um, I liked both? lol. I haven't figured out how I will use both. Though, right now I'm wanting to go to grad school for English. Not sure what the future will hold though.

Oh, randomly, watcher and I are the co-founders of the site. I think we took down the message that said that, hrm, I can't remember. ^^"

Yea.. maybe you should put something back up, alphy, so people know to at least contact you if there are issues.. XP You're the face of the people who put this together!

And I play piano. Learned since I was young.. blah blah.. <3 My preference is music from the romantic period. At first, my favourite was Chopin, but then I discovered Rachmaninov. Awesome stuff. I've only managed to play a couple of his pieces well; they're pretty difficult for me.. and in general I think. I really like the fullness of music from that period and the enormous chords and runs that Rachmaninov tends to use. Breaks my fingers, but they sound amazing..

I dabbled in some flute/piccolo in band and a few other instruments, which I can barely play. Those were some fun times in high school.

Piano's more like a persistent hobby for me. In the past, I may have been able to transform it into a performing side job, but my practising regime has withered away. Now that I live away from home (and piano), I only practise something like once a week when I visit my parents.. ^^" I have a whole queue of music I want to learn to play, mostly contemporary stuff from various animes and Final Fantasy piano collections, as well as some more romantic period pieces.

The insignia's from a little-known, turn-based computer game much like Civilization. It's called Alpha Centauri. The insignia is one of the faction symbols: http://www.firaxis.com/smac/deirdre.cfm.

The faction, Gaia's Stepdaughters, stand for environmentalism, peace and empathy. Cheesy, yes I know. When I play, I actually use another faction because they're "attributes" are better, but the Gaian personality matches with my ideals very closely.

I really like their insignia, a stylized rose with the rough and thorny exterior protecting the beautiful and fluidic interior. Ok.. game rant done. XD

I'm a computer engineering major at university.. ^_^

Ahh Rachmaninoff makes such gorgeous pieces! I played his Symphonic Dances for Violin and it was one of the hardest pieces I ever played, but when it all came together, it was one of the most beautiful pieces I had ever heard. I only heard a few of his pieces for Piano but they sounded amazing as well.

It's good that you are involved in music. It's a great hobby to have, and it's great that you like classical. It's nice to hear.

That's a nice ideal behind the insignia and it is quite an interesting image.

Computer engineering sounds like fun. A good profession to go into I must say.
